Toggle navigation Find Inmate / Request Visitation Detainee Discharge FAQ Rules and Regulations Contraband Home Inmate Locator Find Inmate Details & Request Visitation within the Cook County Jail System Frequently Asked Questions Terms & Conditions Please be advised that the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC) has instituted a new visitation policy. Any individuals wishing to visit an inmate MUST complete and submit a Visitor Application to the CCDOC. Visitor Applications may be obtained and submitted at the following locations: Cook County Sheriff’s Office website www.cookcountysheriff.org Divisional lobby where the inmate is being housed Entrance of any Cook County courthouse The application MUST be filled out completely and it is strongly encouraged to submit applications using the official Sheriff’s website. Minors 17 years of age or under DO NOT need to fill out an application; however they MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has been approved according to the new visitation policy at the time of the visit. Also, if the minor is high school age, a current state or school photo ID must be presented. Up to three children can be accompanied by one adult. If you have already submitted an application for an individual inmate, you DO NOT need to reapply. You will have to submit a new application if the inmate was discharged and then re-incarcerated. Once the application is received, a background check will be conducted to determine if the applicant is approved for visiting privileges. Applicants must call the Visitor Information Center at (773) 674-8225 or email: doc.visitation@cookcountyil.gov to inquire about the status of their applications. Please allow seven (7) business days after submitting an application to inquire about the status. Applicants will be DENIED visiting privileges based on the criteria below. If you have been DENIED approval for the reasons noted in points 3 and 4 below, you may reapply, but only if your mandatory waiting period has expired. 1. The applicant provided invalid, inaccurate or unverifiable information on the Visitor Application. 2. The applicant is a minor 17 years of age or under. 3. The applicant is: 4. Is within the first year of parole/probation. 5. On house arrest. 6. On bond, has an open criminal case, excluding misdemeanor traffic cases. 7. The applicant was discharged from CCDOC, Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) or any other verified correctional facility within the last 60 days. 8. The applicant has an outstanding warrant, including ICE detainers or has failed to maintain accurate registration records as required by law (e.g., Sex Offender registry, Violent Offender registry, etc.). 9. The applicant has a protective order placed on the inmate they are requesting to visit. 10. Any safety or security reasons as determined by a CCSO supervisor. 11. Visitors are required to follow Cook County Department of Corrections visitor rules and regulations at ALL times while on facility grounds. Failure to do so may result in the termination or denial of future visits. To apply for visitation, search for the inmate that you wish to visit below. If you wish to visit more than one inmate, you must submit an application for each inmate. All applicants will be subject to a background check. I agree to the Terms and Conditions Begin Search With the number of COVID-19 cases in Chicago and Cook County on the rise, and in light of the current stay-at-home advisory for the City of Chicago, the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC) is temporarily suspending in-person visits at the jail. In June, the Cook County Jail was one of the first jails or prisons to re-instate in-person visitation, using an outdoor, socially distant setting in which all visitors are screened and their temperatures are taken prior to meeting with their loved ones who are in custody. For months, detainees were able to safely meet with family and friends. Like detainees, the people who visit them come from the community, where current test positivity rates for Chicago and Cook County are at 15.6% and 15.2% respectively. While CCDOC has had great success containing the virus, given the strong encouragement by state and local health officials to promote staying at home and the current test positivity rates in the community, this temporary modification will help protect the health and safety of staff and detainees. Jail staff, in close coordination with our partners at Cermak Health Services, continue to combat the virus through proven interventions such as social distancing, limited movement, and aggressive testing protocols. Video visitation will continue to be provided to detainees as it has since April, and in-person visitation will be reinstated soon as it is safe to do so. Notice: New Inmate Phone Service Provider Beginning June 13, 2019, Cook County Jail will have a new service provider for detainee phone calls called Legacy Inmate Communications. Funds for the previous provider, Securus, will no longer be accepted for detainee phone call payments. Securus prepaid account balances must be used by June 13, 2019 . To ensure a seamless transition between providers, members of the public wishing to receive calls from a detainee are encouraged to set up pre-paid accounts to their home, cell phone or international telephone number. These accounts will be used to pay for detainees’ phone calls made to a specific number. Money may be added to these accounts beginning June 7. After June 13, the public may also deposit money to detainees’ prepaid cardless debit calling account. These funds may be used by a detainee to call any number. Information on the new phone provider and the types of accounts offered may be found here . Information on how to set up a prepaid account may be found at connect.legacyinmate.com Questions may be directed to Legacy’s 24/7 friends and family call center at 1-800-356-8390 Legacy Inmate Communications Calling Rates: Local $0.06 Per Minute Intrastate $0.06 Per Minute Interstate $0.06 Per Minute International (Mexico & Canada) $0.08 Per Minute International (All Others) $0.13 Per Minute Do you know someone struggling with substance abuse?
